Reports today says the government in the UK are considering 25p charge on disposable coffee cups. This is because they are so difficult to recycle and companies are not changing to proper recyclable cups. I’m not a coffee drinker and you’ll never find my in one of these places so I have no axe to grind here.
My answer to the problem is to first ban all coffee shops serving drinks that will be consumed on the premises to use real cups not disposable cups. Second ban all disposable cups that can’t be recycled locally … say within 100 miles of the shop.
