Cut the London Fog

image of electric taxiThis week a new electric Black Taxi was presented to the public. These taxis cost about £11,000 more than the standard taxis and have a charge range of 80 miles, ideal for London. So why not invest in clean air by encouraging current taxi owners to swop to these electric versions instead of renewing their petrol & diesel versions.
Why not setup a hiring company taking taxis direct from the factory and on to the roads via a leasing agreement. This the goverment could do very cheaply offering a yearly fee for each taxi. The environment gains are high but also the PR for electric cars – people using them by riding in them and seeing they work well, are cleaner and a better ride overall.

As of March 2017, government figures say the there were 356,300 taxi or private hire vehicle driver licences in England.
