The nasty, cruel Tory immigration bill is now also the Labour policy on immigration. For that is the only way this can be looked at after Labour lords failed to even turn up to vote in the House of Lords. If they had, the bill could have been stopped or at least delayed for a year while the government would be forced to use acts of parliament to get it done.
The church heads all got their money’s worth from the past newspaper headlines, and Labour don’t want to seem soft of immigration. So most of the those Lords didn’t even bother to turn up.
